From blond, blue eyed, to black, and black eyed. Maldonado sounds Spanish or Italian to me. There's no way anyone would point a gun to their head and pull the trigger as a joke. I can’t seem to get over it. He seemed like a young kid who was swept away by Joe’s aura and also the drugs. I live there so I guess I'm interested. I would never work at a place that treats guns so disrespectfully (for fear of being shot or seeing someone get shot.). Some Rugers do have a safety mechanism called a magazine safety that prevents the gun from firing if no magazine is present. I just finished ep7 and I’m really, really troubled by Travis’s story.
People forget or just don't know that Spanish people held domain over some southern portions of the USA for over 300 years and that level of …
I’m Latino/Hispanic myself, so yes.
New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast. My guess is Travis forgot or did not know his particular gun that day had no magazine safety. I thought he looked Argentinian or Portuguese. He seemed to believe that a Ruger wouldn’t fire without the clip in.
Wij willen hier een beschrijving geven, maar de site die u nu bekijkt staat dit niet toe.
He was obviously very controlling and wouldn't really let Travis leave. I think it also affects me because I’m gay and Travis’s age. Joe groomed them both and used thier weaknesses against them. Did he think having the clip out was a safety feature? There's alot of people who identify as white who have a Spanish last name especially in areas where Spanish has large influences. The dude was unhappy. What really confuses me is Joe's multiple last names? Some people are interested in stuff like anthropology/ethnicity/culture, with no harmful or malicious intent.
A rivalry between big cat eccentrics takes a dark turn when Joe Exotic, a controversial animal park boss, is caught in a murder-for-hire plot.
Press J to jump to the feed. The story of the death of Travis Maldonado, 'Tiger King' Joe Exotic, is a wild one. Always making statements to those around him about how he couldn’t leave, etc. If you do enough meth you could probably have gay sex and enjoy it at the time without necessarily being attracted to men.
It seems like he never really got a chance to live. I think he was depressed, frustrated and wanted out of the park, but I don’t think his suicide was intentional.
Hyper-sexuality is the technical term for the symptom.
Perfectly harmless question, no?
Who also had lots of firearms (provided by joe). Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts.
Does anybody know? I think he intended to kill himself.
I know it’s made to seem like an accident, and the context around his death definitely does seem to indicate it was probably a mistake... BUT- do you think it’s possible he intentionally committed suicide?
I was saddened by him and John. This post is for Travis Maldonado I just finished ep7 and I’m really, really troubled by Travis’s story.
I am just so sad for him, he was such a good looking guy with his whole life ahead of him but Joe took him in and basically kept him as a prisoner, making sure he was always high and never letting him leave. He looked highly distressed, depressed.. stuck in an abusive coercively controlling cult, no one was going to help him and they all enabled the obvious power imbalance and sex abuse.
I’m very affected and in the same position as you. I also can't stop thinking about it.
He seemed so unhappy and angry.
His current husband's name is Dillion Passage. the shots of travis before he got beefed up look like my brother before the military.
Maldonado is a spanish surname. It's just so sad. They stopped referencing Schreibvoge surname at some point during the series. It was an accident. I can’t stop thinking about it either.
He was manipulated and you could see the pain and sadness in him every time he talked.

People forget or just don't know that Spanish people held domain over some southern portions of the USA for over 300 years and that level of influence doesn't just disappear so easily.
No person who respects guns would do 1/100 of what the people in the series do. Joe is definitely a manipulative narcissist and drugs were almost certainly involved in their relationship, but I think their relationship was mostly consensual as well. Anyways heres a video compilation of him https://youtu.be/o4mWmODCoIQ, I used to be in a similar situation as him when I was younger(not as severe) and it breaks my heart you can see he’s clearly high in some of the clips on Netflix, New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast.
Glad to know others felt the same. Can't find much information about his back story on the internet. then the somewhat older version of travis looks like my brother post-military, all the way down to the wild hair. Can’t stop thinking about Travis and his story honestly.
he was so fucking young, and despite having trouble with drugs, still had a lot of potential for his future.
Yeah he said he was having his last cig before he died too, He was also high from the moment he met Joe, it could have been influenced by drugs. Press J to jump to the feed. If John Finlay can just get in a fight with Joe then walk out, Travis sure as hell could too, I feel like. Yes horrified and upset no one helped him. He had so much of potential if only someone took him to rehab he would of had a fighting chance. this absolutely broke my heart. I really want to know where in SoCal he grew up.
It was also mentioned that John was treated the same way and maybe even talks of abuse. He was my age... was anyone else affected by his story?
It was gut wrenching.
You know “Mexican” isn’t a race and we can be of all shades, correct? He was manipulated and you could see the pain and sadness in him every time he talked.
I don’t know. You are aware that Latino /Hispanics can be of any race correct ? The amount of brandishing firearms and even firing firearms without considering the background in the series is absolutely terrifying. It’s horrifying.
but that one was just too much for me.
something that struck me so hard was that for the entire duration of the show, i’m thinking about how travis looks just like my little brother and how many things they have in common. I thought he was homeless which would make more sense as to why he woukd marry joe but his family was at his "wedding" wtf is up with that. I think it's pretty clear it was intentional. I agree, I think he shot himself deliberately, because he was ranting about being a prisoner a few seconds before as you can see on the security footage.
Most Mexicans are part European (Spanish), Fairly certain most mexicans are “part European”.
Unfortunately, not every model of Ruger has a magazine safety. I don't buy this whole joe tracking him down stuff tbh. Where does "Passage" come from? I have two Ruger pistols, one can fire without the magazine and the other won’t.
Yeah. The death photos were not available yet and for some rights and privacy, we may not be able to upload them on our website even if we have them. One of my favorite friends is super white and speaks no Spanish although his father was born and partially raised in Mexico. Thought i was going syko. The story about Travis walking up and putting his nuts in Joe’s face screams meth’d out hyper-sexuality, especially when you consider the many scenes of Travis avoiding affection from Joe, probably because he was sober and it was no longer appealing to him.
